Reviving Bharat as the Sone ki Chidiya
The Golden Bird of the world, restored for the twenty-first century: a developed, self-reliant, secure and resilient Bharat by the centenary of Independence in 2047.
For much of recorded history Bharat was among the most productive and prosperous lands on earth, known to traders and travellers as the Sone ki Chidiya, the Golden Bird. Economic historians estimate that the subcontinent produced roughly a quarter of the world’s output for long stretches before the eighteenth century. That prosperity was eroded over the colonial centuries. Restoring it is the purpose of Viksit Bharat 2047.
01What the Golden Bird means todayNot hoarded gold, but resilient prosperity
The Golden Bird of the twenty-first century is not a treasury of gold. It is a nation whose wealth is productive (built on manufacturing, technology and services), secure (protected from coercion, attack and disruption), resilient (able to absorb shocks and recover stronger), knowledge-rich (owning its science, data and intellectual property), inclusive (shared by its villages, towns and cities) and civilisationally confident (drawing strength from its Sanātan inheritance). Prosperity that cannot be defended does not last; the lesson of history is that the Golden Bird must also be a guarded one.
02Why resilience is the condition of prosperityGrowth that disruption cannot reverse
A developed economy is a densely connected one. The more Bharat builds, the more its grids, ports, factories, data networks and supply chains depend on one another, and the more a single failure can cascade. Investment, credit, exports and jobs all rest on the confidence that systems will keep working. Resilience is therefore not a cost on the road to 2047; it is what makes the gains of each year safe from the shocks of the next.
03The pathway through the Six PillarsHow each pillar carries Bharat towards 2047
| Pillar | Contribution to the Golden Bird |
|---|---|
| Critical Infrastructure | Lifelines of energy, water, transport, health, finance and communication that are resilient by design. |
| Strategic Manufacturing | A self-reliant industrial and defence base that makes in Bharat what Bharat must never be denied. |
| Supply Chains | Diversified, traceable and secure flows of goods, materials and energy, by land, sea and air. |
| Technology Sovereignty | Ownership of the semiconductors, software, data, AI and deep technologies on which future power rests. |
| Comprehensive National Security | Borders, coasts, cities and cyberspace protected by an integrated security architecture. |
| Global Engagement and Collective Resilience | Partnerships that open markets, secure inputs and let Bharat lead as a Viswaguru for a more resilient world. |
04The Institute’s roadmap to 2047Three phases of institutional contribution
Foundation
Complete the BNRI methodology and pilot it in selected clusters; establish the six journals and the certification ladder; build the sector knowledge base across 148 sectors; grow BHARAT-ARC and the partnership tracks.
Scale
Extend BNRI-aligned assessment across sectors and States; train a national cadre of resilience professionals and assessors; make the Institute’s indices and data products a regular input to policy and investment.
Leadership
Offer Bharat’s resilience practice to partner nations; contribute to international standards; and help the nation reach its centenary as a developed, resilient and self-reliant power.
The phases describe the Institute’s own plan of work. They are aims to be met through sustained effort, not claims of achievement.
05The role of every IndianA whole-of-nation mission
No institution can revive the Golden Bird alone. The Institute’s role is to supply evidence, standards, trained people and honest measurement. The work itself belongs to ministries and States, industry and MSMEs, universities and laboratories, the armed and security forces, and above all to citizens who build, protect and care for the nation’s assets in their daily work.
The Golden Bird of 2047 will fly on two wings: prosperity that Bharat builds, and resilience that protects it.Bharat Assets Protection Institute™
