Research Data Sharing
How the data behind B.A.P-I publications is shared, cited and protected.
Principle
- Data that supports a publication should be available for others to check and build on, as openly as possible and as closed as necessary.
What authors provide
- A data statement in the manuscript: where the data comes from, where it can be found and any limits on access.
- Data sets, where they can be shared, in a common open format with a short description of the variables.
Citing data
- Data used from other sources is cited like any other source, with the publisher, year and location.
Limits
- Data that is classified, commercially confidential, personal or that could harm national security or critical infrastructure is not shared; the data statement says so.
Open research
- Shared data, methods and tools can be placed with the Open Source Research programme so that they serve the wider research community.
