B.A.P-I Foundation Capstone Certification

Designed to the level of a Foundation Certificate Programme

The Foundation Capstone Certification is the entry-level credential within the B.A.P-I framework, designed for early-career professionals, students, and researchers beginning their journey in Critical Infrastructure Protection and national resilience studies. Candidates engage with four core Coin Credits (Sectoral Insight, Critical Analysis, Stakeholder Engagement, and Enterprise Resilience), building essential analytical and domain-awareness competencies. The programme concludes with a Research Paper or Policy Paper and an Audio-Visual presentation.

Credits and Scores

What each part demands, and how it is scored

One Capstone credit stands for 30 notional learning hours, the convention of India’s National Credit Framework and in line with the European Credit Transfer System. Notional hours count all the work a candidate does: guided study, engagement, research, writing and supervised review, by whatever means, including digital and AI tools. Credit is awarded only for verified, assessed outputs. Every B.A.P-I publication type sits in one of nine classes, and a type carries the same credit wherever it is used, so every kind of publication counts towards a Capstone level.

Credits and notional hours follow from the work each level demands; the weekly study load follows from the planned length. The Foundation level runs as a three-month intensive programme, and the weekly load eases level by level for working professionals, to about 17 hours a week at the Grand level (60 credits, 1,800 notional hours over two years, of which the book carries 24 credits). Credits earned at a lower level carry forward: a candidate moving up completes only the new Coin Credits and the new culminating work.

Score and grade table

A ten-point letter-grade scale, as used in Indian higher education under the UGC credit system, with the level result reported as a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

Grading and results

  • Each component is marked out of its full marks (20 marks for each credit), read as a percentage and given a letter grade.
  • A component is passed at 40 per cent (grade P); credits are earned only for passed components.
  • CGPA = the sum of (credits × grade point) for every component, divided by the total credits of the level. Percentage equivalent = CGPA × 10.
  • Result classes: First Class with Distinction at CGPA 7.5 and above; First Class at 6.0; Second Class at 5.0; Pass at 4.0.
  • Each candidate receives a transcript listing every component with its credits, marks, letter grade and grade point, and the CGPA of the level.

Integrity and assessment

  • The culminating work is examined by two assessors; a third is added if their marks differ by more than 15.
  • Every publication and culminating work passes an originality check and an oral defence or viva, so that credit reflects the candidate’s own understanding, whatever tools were used to produce it.
  • A component below 40 per cent may be resubmitted once, after feedback.
  • Recognition of prior learning (earlier B.A.P-I publications, internships, programmes) may account for no more than half of a level’s credits; the culminating work is always completed within the programme.
